Vote — The Most Important
Event of the Year |
n this last 24-48 hours before the Presidential election, your New Docs editor is sending out this not so subtle reminder, to do the most important thing of the year (and perhaps long beyond):
November 4th is your chance to participate in the most American of processes – voting for our leaders.
For those of you living in a cave, let me remind you that in this particular voting cycle much is at stake, including: |

☆ A new President
☆ 30 seats in the Senate with a possible Democrat super-majority
☆ The potential replacement of two to three Supreme Court judges during the next four years.
☆ The war in Iraq
☆ The war in Afghanistan (and potentially Pakistan)
☆ The structure of Medicine in our country
☆ Roe vs Wade (the abortion/choice issue)
☆ National security
☆ Affirmative action
☆ Gay rights
☆ Church-State separation
☆ Our international reputation and future relationships
☆ Energy policy
☆ Tax policy
☆ Our faltering economy
☆ Among many other issues |
I don’t care what your particular political leanings may be. Whether Democrat, Republican, or Independent, your life will be affected by the results of the upcoming election. Despite your opinions on the above issues, it is your responsibility as an American to vote. Remember those who have died in the past, so we may have the freedom to live our lives. The least we can do is vote.
If you haven’t registered to vote, it’s too late. Go hide in a corner, and don’t complain if things don’t turn out the way you’d like. You’ve just disenfranchised yourself and don’t deserve to have your opinion heard.
If you are registered – good for you. Now…participate! Vote! Don’t give up your voice. If you have to stand on a 6 hour line, then do it. Either way…vote! I’ll see you at the polls on Tuesday! |
