There are many classification systems present for lower extremities wounds, but with so many present, how does one keep them straight and know which is best? Dr. Lavery explains the wound classification systems of Shea, Meggitt/Wagner, and Lavery-UT in detail in this lecture. He discusses how the Lavery-UT system includes the depth of a wound and the comorbities of infection and ischemia that may be present. The lecture ends with multiple case studies that classify the wounds in the comparison of the Wagner and UT system.
