Sherry Scovell, M.D. presents an overview of venous insufficiency and its effects on the lower extremity. She begins by reviewing venous anatomy of the lower extremity including deep and superficial veins. The CEAP classification system of venous disease is outlined and explained. Various venous diseases such as varicose veins, chronic venous insufficiency and DVT are discussed, along with proper diagnosis and management. The critical role of duplex ultrasound is emphasized.

Excision of Soft Tissue Mass The purpose of this presentation is to elucidate those features of soft tissue masses that will enable the surgeon to differentiate between benign and malignant lesions. It will also provide a safe and logical approach for the safe excision of these masses. Numerous case scenarios will be utilized to exemplify the didactic material.

Rheumatologic complaints are common in podiatric practice. This lecture uses an algorithmic approach to (1) recognize rheumatologic symptoms and signs, (2) differentiate the common monarthropathies, (3) identify and screen for systemic inflammatory arthritidies, and (4) use the pattern of joint involvement to distinguish the more frequently encountered causes of oligo and polyarthritis.
