In this presentation Dr Fitzgerald will familiarize the viewer with the basic types of suture materials available, and their general application in lower extremity surgery. This presentation includes a discussion of the various common absorbable and nonabsorbable sutures, how they are classified, and general suture techniques which are commonly utilized by foot and ankle surgeons.

In this lecture by Karen Satterfield, DPM the controversial topic of patient non-compliance is explored in-depth in this lecture. Many of the diverse etiologies that have been identified are discussed and the more common ones are explored in case-study format, based on actual cases. Methods for overcoming patient non-compliance are discussed as well as the significant impact that this activity has on the medical system. After viewing this lecture, the student will be able to identify non-compliance in his patients and implement methods to successfully overcome that destructive behavior.
