2011: What Was Your Best Moment?
The year’s end always has me thinking retrospectively. So much occurs during the 365 ¼ days of a year – all of the unique triumphs and tragedies. It’s so easy to focus on the negativity in the world, but I’d like to make this last 2011 Practice Perfect issue about the positives. To that end, I’m asking our readers and bloggers to write in. What was your best moment or moments of 2011?
To start off the conversation, I’d like to relate my best moment. For me, a great moment was finally moving into the first house I purchased. After looking at 101 houses and having a horrible time with the escrow process (easily several of my worst moments of the year), my family finally moved into our first home.
Professionally, my work with Western University College of Podiatric Medicine has been filled with too many good moments to describe in one blog post. After 4 years in private practice, relocating to find the best fit, I realized I finally found it. The people I work with, whether faculty or students, are of remarkably high quality and challenge me intellectually every day. Based on the students I work with, I know podiatry has a bright future!
But the hands down single best moment of my year was the birth of my second child, my daughter, Lyra Vonn, on 10/24/11. What could possibly top the birth of a child? Of course, that has made the final months of 2011 virtually sleepless! Nothing makes you want to be a better person than the birth of a child.
I want to thank everyone who has read Practice Perfect over the past year. It’s been a true honor to participate with PRESENT eLearning, Please share your best moment in the eTalk thread on the topic. you and I hope your 2012 is happy, profitable, fulfilling, and successful. Happy New Year!
Keep writing in with your thoughts and comments. Better yet, post them in our eTalk forum.
Best wishes.
