Casting for Neutral Orthotics

Robert Phillips, DPM

Robert D Phillips, DPM shows the technique for casting for a traditional neutral position foot orthotic as originally described by Dr. Merton L. Root. It is traditionally accepted that capturing the correct shape of the foot is the most important step in manufacturing an orthotic that is comfortable and effective. Dr Phillips pays particular attention to many of the small details in positioning the patient and also the casting person when followed makes it easy to capture an accurate cast. He also goes through the evaluation process after casting to ensure accuracy.
