ACTIGRAFT Saves Las Vegas Woman's Leg from an Amputation with just One Treatment

Introduction

This is a single case presentation to try and avoid an amputation. Dr Wahab suggested ActiGraft, a FDA-cleared treatment option that uses a patient’s own blood to create an autologous blood clot tissue to heal chronic and acute wounds. Once applied, the blood clot tissue serves as a protective covering, biologic scaffold and wound microenvironment to promote the natural wound healing processes of the body.

Case Study

Prior to ActiGraft, a 67-year-old female, suffered from an aggressive form of gangrene on her toe that required a partial foot amputation. After the amputation, the infection continued to spread and she risked losing not only her entire foot, but most of her leg below the knee. The patient lost hope as she feared losing her leg and her ability to ever walk again.

The patient underwent several painful wound treatments such as NPWT & HBO to save her foot without success and so ActiGraft was introduced.

Wound History:

With just one ActiGraft application over the course of 8-weeks, the patient’s wound was ninety-five percent healed. Throughout the treatment, the wound constantly progressed – it started to heal, and the patient no longer felt any pain.
